Art Guild Presents at Philadelphia’s American Institute of Architects’ Event
The Art Guild Museums + Environments team stands out for many reasons. Chief among them is its extraordinary level of museum expertise – acquired through work on hundreds of projects, and its efforts to build a staff of true museum professionals. Every member here has more than 10 years of experience working in, or for, museums.
Once again, the team is sharing that expertise. This time as part of the Design Dialogues Series held by the AIA Philadelphia’s Design Committee. The event pairs local architects and fabricators who have worked jointly on projects in presentations describing their design-build collaborations, including how they designed together. One pair is David M. Egner, Art Guild’s Vice President of Museum Services and Aaron Goldblatt, Partner, Museum Services from Metcalfe Architecture & Design. Their topic is their extraordinary design-build collaboration for the National Museum of Industrial History (www.nmih.org) in Bethlehem, PA., Here they were challenged with filling a 30,000-sf exhibit space in less than 9 months with a mix of giant relics of the industrial age and hands-on, historically-themed interactives and videos. Photos of the museum space – appropriately located in an abandoned steel mill – are shown above, both before and after the build. One more point of interest – the NMIH is the the first ever museum to be recognized as an official Smithsonian Institute Affiliate.
This event take place at 6:00pm, February 22 at NextFab in Philadelphia. See complete details here.
