Meetings + Events: PayPal Social Media Lounge at South by Southwest (SXSW)

Quick Video Tour

The PayPal Social Media Lounge at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Music and Media Conference (formerly Music Festival), is interesting it two ways. It’s a really smart way for a company (PayPal) to both drive and brand the social conversation surrounding a massive event. It is also one more example of the kind of events-related projects we are doing more and more of for our customers. The 60′ x 60′ lounge in the Austin Convention Center, which we helped bring to life under the direction of PBJS, is designed as a haven for bloggers and other media people. It is fitted out to accommodate 84 on-line workstations and includes a mobile charging station, a cafe, a PayPal retail store and a stage for interviews, broadcasts and musical performances. Our many contributions included creative re-purposing of PayPal’s existing inventories, graphic production, AV, and a neat, custom wire management solution for the power and internet needs of the 84 workstations. And it looks like we’ll be doing it all over again at the sold-out Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival which runs over three weekends this April.
